To find out if your health insurance plan covers naturopathic benefits, simply call and ask them. If your plan does not cover naturopathic care, we recommend that you ask your provider whether they have any plans that do. It may be that you can find a plan that more closely matches the sort of coverage and care you wish to have, without too significant a change in your monthly premium.
We offer a wide range of health services, from primary care to advanced integrated therapies such as intravenous micronutrient infusions. For a complete list of all our services check here: View all services >>
We find that what we do as individuals on a regular basis determines our health far more than the medicines we use. Our goal is to help you understand the determinants of your health and what changes you can make to achieve and maintain wellness on a daily basis. To help you achieve complete health, we employ time-tested therapies including nutrition, manipulation, botanicals, hydrotherapy and, when indicated, pharmaceuticals. Other unique therapies that we utilize are intravenous micronutrient therapy, pulsed electromagnetic field, chelation, bio-puncture and neural therapy. View all services >>

With your commitment toward improved health and our passion and expertise for wellness we can help you achieve your health goals! It is our experience that people seeking to improve their health are most successful when they find a place where they feel comfortable, can express themselves and are given the opportunity to work side-by-side with a medical professional who is willing to take the time to help them reach their goals. That is our commitment to you. Likewise, we are seeking individuals and families who are interested in improving themselves regardless of where they are starting from. If this describes you, we believe we can accomplish great things together.
The length, breadth and depth of the initial visit will vary according to your needs and circumstances. However, as a new patient you can count on a few things: First, an interview will be conducted to obtain a detailed history of your health situation. After hearing your story a physical examination will take place to further investigate your current health state. We will also request your pertinent medical records from any other providers that you are working with now or have worked with in the past. After reviewing all the information available, we will discuss with you your current state of health, our medical approach as it pertains to your situation, and the potential outcomes we can pursue. We will then construct a treatment plan that will address the reasons you came to us as well as outline a long term program for your individual health and wellness.
This is an especially important question in our current economy. At LUCHS Natural Medicine you can be sure that you are paying a fair price for the care you will receive. To accomplish this we utilize existing insurance codes that determine office visits according to time, level of examination and complexity. So when you come to the doctor you will only pay for what you get – ensuring you get the most for your health care investment. We also take steps to cut our costs and pass that savings onto you. Please call our office and we can help you get a better idea of the relative cost of care in your specific situation.
We are able to write prescriptions for the most common medications used in primary care. This gives us great flexibility when working with different individuals and their unique health situations. Individuals who are currently taking medications and are looking for alternatives, who are wanting to reduce the amount of medication they are taking or who simply need a pharmaceutical strength drug to meet their current health needs are all scenarios common to our practice. Ultimately, as obstacles to healing are removed and wellness is supported, prescription medications will often become unnecessary.
Yes, we are contracted with most major insurance companies and do bill insurance as a courtesy to our patients. Because our focus is on providing you with the best care possible, some things may not be covered by insurance. In these cases many patients take advantage of their flexible spending and Health Savings Accounts to cover these out of pockets costs. We are currently contracted with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Healthnet, Kaiser, Lifewise, Moda Health, Multi-Plan, Oregon Health Co-op, PacificSource, Providence and UnitedHealthcare.

Yes! Due to the high demand for appointments we ask you to value the provider’s time by arriving to your scheduled appointment. Our office will assess a late cancel fee if a patient cancels or reschedules with less than 24 hours, or if they do not show up for a scheduled visit. The late cancelation fee for our office is $50 for the first time, $100 for the second time, and the full cost of your scheduled appointment for the third and beyond. We sincerely hope that we never have to charge you the full rate for the appointment! Please help us by planning accordingly and arriving to your appointments at the scheduled time.
Do you work with a specific lab?
Our office works with a variety of laboratories as not all laboratories offer all tests.
Are the labs in-network with my insurance company?
Not all, but many, of our patient’s preventative labs are run through laboratories that bill insurance directly. However, many of the labs we recommend are so specialized that insurance companies will not pay for the full panel – most offer very competitive cash rates. We will inform you if the laboratory does not offer to bill insurance.
How do I know if my labs will be covered by insurance?
We will try to let you know if a laboratory test we are recommending is not covered by insurance, however it is ultimately your responsibility to understand your insurance benefits. As a courtesy our office monitors your insurance to the best of our ability in order to help you get the most out of your benefits.
If your insurance is being billed for laboratory testing you will be responsible for any copays or deductibles that are assessed. We cannot waive or lower these charges.
What do I need to pay for up front?
Our office assesses a $20 laboratory fee to support the cost of our in-house laboratory. This charge is not billable to insurance. If any of your labs are being sent to a specialty laboratory, many require payment up front even when they are courtesy billing your insurance plan. For patients using insurance, although we collect many lab charges up front there is always the chance of a remaining balance after your insurance is billed.
Can I go somewhere else to get my blood drawn?
Of course. There are many other labs in the area, however not all of them work with the laboratories our office works with. Please ask for specifics. (We also think we have one of the best phlebotomists around…not to brag or anything.)
